Has GamesTM Been Paying Me Visits?
Thursday, August 25, 2005 - 11:00pm cst:

In the UK, there's an excellent videogames magazine called GamesTM. Very similar in tone to Next Generation/Edge magazines: that rare prozine that's actually aimed at adults. You know, that generation that grew up playing games in the '80s. It's a great magazine that is fortunately stocked at the downtown Shinder's.

Anyway, in this month's review of Hudson's Bomberman game for the Nintendo DS, I noticed something familiar. Each game reviewed is compared to two similar games; one that's better, one that's worse. Bomberman DS was listed as "worse than" Super Bomberman on the Super NES.

Now here's the point. Notice the picture they used for Super Bomberman? Hmm. Isn't that from the Videogame Classics essay on Super Bomberman 2? The very same. In the spirit of full disclosure, I did find that picture online, but it was from an obscure site (I can't remember where); I took it and touched it up a bit.

So if anyone from GamesTM is visiting here, please, send a message. Say hello. I'm available for freelancing...hellooo! Ahem.

Great shot of Minneapolis, before the clouds rolled in and ruined everything, and a picture from the front steps of my apartment. Again, sorry about the bandwidth. The file size is horrible (430K).

A lot of great pictures from downtown Minneapolis, and a great chance to use the telephoto lens. Here's one.

Digital has one strength over film, and that's nighttime. These shots are taken with only natural lighting, as Michael Mann superbly demonstrated in Collateral.

I bought a digital camera recently, a Canon PowerShot A510, which was released this year and is quite excellent. It's a great low-end camera for anyone who wants to take easy shots. So I thought I'd share a photo or two each day, and hopefully I won't destroy the homepage file size - sorry for those of you still stuck with dial-up. This is a really good time to switch to broadband. Anyway, enjoy.

I've Got My Tardy Slip
Monday, August 22, 2005 - 12:15pm cst:

Sorry about my poor attendance this month; things have just been too hectic for the last couple weeks. I'll try to get the writing together and keep up a decent pace.

An arts and entertainment webzine that's actually worth visiting.

Featuring online art galleries, movie and game reviews, and political commentary. Stryper still sucks.
